Advice On Grilling Pork Ribs
Pork ribs are delicious but many people can have a problem with grilling pork ribs. There are more than a few ways to make sure that you are grilling correctly and that the ribs do no turn out dry or burnt. If you follow these tips when you are grilling pork ribs you can have tender, succulent ribs every time you grill. This means you will no longer have to purchase your ribs from a restaurant or take out place. You can make them at home for a fraction of the cost.
The first thing you will have to do is to marinate the ribs before you cook them. It is best to do this overnight but if you do not have that much time, make sure that they at least soak in it for 6 hours. Place the ribs in an airtight plastic zip lock bag. Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of either olive or vegetable oil. The rest of the ingredients depend on your own personal tastes. You may want to add a bit of seasoning salt and pepper or other spices that you enjoy. Many people choose to marinate their ribs in things like beer or whiskey. You can also add lemon or lime juice for an extra zing of flavor. Choose whatever you would like to enhance the ribs. When you have placed all of your ingredients into the plastic bag, close it and thoroughly shake up the bag until all of the ingredients are evenly distributed. Place the bag in the refrigerator until it is time to grill.
When grilling pork ribs, you must remember that you cannot place them over a direct heat. It is fine to grill smaller items like hot dogs or hamburgers and place them over direct heat and even flames. But ribs take a longer time to cook, so if you are using a gas grill turn off the setting directly under the ribs and only use the burners on either side of the grill. If you will be using a charcoal grill, when the coals are hot, move them to either side of the grill with a bare spot directly under the ribs. It helps to use a drip collector under the ribs. You can use a pan that is big enough to cover the area and it should catch all of the juices and fat that cook out of the ribs. This makes cleaning the grill much easier.
Continue to cook the pork ribs for a full 2 and half hours. Use a medium setting and make sure that the grill does not go over 320 degrees while cooking. If you have any left over marinade, you should coat the fibs with it every half an hour and you can also turn the ribs over, so that each side is equally cooked.
Right before the ribs are done you can add your barbeque sauce. Do not marinade the ribs in barbeque sauce and you should never add it to the ribs until they are almost completely done. Barbeque sauce contains a high amount of sugar and sugar can easily burn in a matter of minutes. After you have prepared your ribs and taken the time to cook them properly, you will not want a burnt rib. To avoid this, add the sauce during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
After you have mastered grilling pork ribs, gently place them on a baking sheet and do not cut into them right away. Cutting freshly cooked meat removes some of the juices and the flavor, so allow them to sit for a full fifteen minutes before serving them.
